My journey as a local Manawatū Artist officially started when I was selected to be one of the artists in the mentoring programmes sponsored by the Square Edge Community Arts Council.
This journey of a thousand recycled coffee pods started with a vision 3 years ago heavily influenced by my environmental science background. It came to fruition this year.
Enjoy the splashes of colour and the intracacies of linking together recycled coffee pods big and small.
The journey continues and never ends!
Wild Blue Yonder
Jeanette Munn
I am a local Manawatū Artist working in multiple disciplines including experimental printmaking.
Nature is a major inspiration for my work including this exhibition.
This collection of prints explores the pattern, shape and texture of the flora which grows wild in the Manawatu and is mostly ignored or discarded.
The process I have used is cyanotype on paper. This early photographic method uses ferric salts, sunshine and water and is the origin of the word blueprint. I have experimented with exposure time, layering, double exposure and wet medium. The results can be unpredictable and surprising. Each print is unique.
I invite you to appreciate the curious and unexpected beauty of the wild.
