Viktoria Karaman

Entrance gallery, SQUARE EDGE ARTS CENTRE

Viktoria Karaman, known as MOONVI, is a fibre and object artist based in Christchurch.

Viktoria firmly believes that any object, regardless of its age or perceived flaws, can be reborn into a new and vibrant form. Her ongoing project, titled ‘Re-,’ explores the transformative power of upcycling and fibre art.

Hunting for various discarded items, mainly at op shops, and meticulously covering them with yarn, she breathes new life into neglected objects. Strand by strand, Viktoria creates a cocoon-like shell that protects and renews each piece, infusing it with creativity, playfulness, and a touch of whimsy.
