The Seated Photographers in New Zealand is an initiative featuring wheelchair users who document their unique, lower-angle perspective of everyday life to break down disability stereotypes an increase artistic accessibility

How they see the world, is often peering through fences, or in a crowd, between people. Other times living is out of reach, like the item in the supermarket, or the light switch when away from home, or the entrance with stairs and no ramp.

Life in a wheelchair is a unique, often multi-faceted experience characterised by moments of profound independence, creativity, and all too often frustration. It is a world built on adaptation, resilience, and personal perspective.

This exhibition, Life on Wheels, presents a collection of photographs catergorised to reflect the varied lives and interests of just 3 people who face these every day challenges without a second thought.

Through their exhibitions, The Seated Photographers aim to promote diversity, inclusion, and awareness, while celebrating the creative talents of its members.
