Fiona’s earliest memories involve textures and textiles, colours and creativity, laughter and a love of books. Years of living overseas, some formal art training at Massey, an escalating collection of ‘interesting stuff’, and time at The Learning Connexion encouraged her to think subversively about fibre, mixed media art, and bookbinding. Playing with traditional women’s skills, and new skills, lead to unexpected art; sculptures from quilting scraps, jewellery from miniature hand-bound books, etchings embellished with beads and embroidery.
