2025 Guide Book coming soon!

Art Trail Manawatu returns on the weekend of 18-19 October 2025, with artists’ studios, galleries and pop-up spaces open from 10am-4pm each day.

Now in its ninth year, Art Trail Manawatu, run by Square Edge Community Arts, celebrates the vibrant creativity of our region. Spanning Manawatu, Rangitikei and Horowhenua, the Trail Connects the community with local artists through open studios, exhibitions, and the chance to purchase original works. From painting and sculpture to textiles and ceramics, it’s a unique opportunity to experience the diversity of local art up close.

Kick off your Art Trail experience at the Trail Mix Exhibition, opening 3rd October 2025 at Square Edge Arts Centre. Featuring work from all participating artists, this group exhibition is the perfect way to discover what studios you’d like to visit during the Trail weekend.

Throughout October, our talented local artists will be hosting a range of interactive workshops, giving you the chance to try your hand at a new creative activity. These workshops are free or heavily subsidised.

Sign up to our newsletter and be the first to know about upcoming workshops and other Art Trail updates.

The Trail Guide will be available in the weeks leading up to the event, or you check it out online. This guide is an essential tool to help plan your journey through the region’s creative spaces. Inside, you’ll find: A map of open studios, artist bios and examples of their work, and contact details and studio information.

Square edge will be a central hub during the Art Trail weekend, with open artists studios and live demonstrations.

Make the most of this Free event – enjoy a scenic road trip, meet talented local artists, and experience the rich creative spirit of the Manawatu.

“Loved it! I had so many wonderful conversations with art makers. Loved the range on show. Makes me appreciate Palmy more to see cultural events like this. I am definitely keen to do the arts trail again and inspired to get more involved in art making myself.” – Art Trail Visitor 2024
