Marton Arts and Crafts Centre opened its doors in 1971 and ever since it has filled the old St Stephen’s School with creativity. There is much on offer with classes and groups working in different artistic mediums including pottery, painting, writing, quilting, weaving and embroidery.
The centre is for the community and it has an ethos of connecting people through art and craft. Cups of tea and discussing creative projects are just as important here as the making, and friendships are forged in this beautiful old building. The centre enjoys sharing what it has to offer and so opportunities like the Art Trail Manawatu are taken up gladly.
Throughout the weekend we will have members demonstrating their crafts at different times. This includes painters using a variety of mediums, potters showing wheel throwing and sculpting, weavers on the looms, quilters and embroiders making beautiful needlework and quilts.
There will be beautiful art and crafts of a variety of mediums for sale.
